helping to retrofit Humvees in Afghanistan with special lightweight

A month in the combat zones of Afghanistan showed Jay Rose and Cliff
Luebbert that American soldiers are an ingenious bunch. Rose and
Luebbert, executives with Vancouver-based Armor Systems International,
watched troops fill unarmored Humvees, which have a weight limit
of 2,400 pounds, with 5,000 pounds of sandbags, drape Kevlar blankets
over doors and build a shield using ceramic body armor. Rose, a
West Point graduate with 25 years of military experience, said the
efforts gave the men nothing but a sense of security. Real protection

A Vancouver, Wash.-based company is supplying Humvee armor kits
for U.S. troops in Afghanistan. The Army Humvees will be the first
military vehicles outfitted with a peel-and-stick armoring system
manufactured by Armor Systems International. ASI representatives
